The trade rumors  surrounding DeMarcus Cousins have been constant for the last two years. Cousins won a gold medal with team USA last year and this season is averaging 28.7 points a game for the Sacramento Kings. Almost everyone thinks he will be traded but the Kings seem to refuse to do so. The biggest reason they have waited so long is probably because no other teams are willing to make such a risk. I have been able to come up with a list of 3 teams that have a chance of landing DeMarcus Cousins.

3 – Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets are on this list because they are one of the only teams that have enough talent to trade for Cousins. The most prominent of these possible trade pieces is rookie Jamal Murray who is already averaging 10.4 points a game. The big question is do the Nuggets want to gut their up and coming team to bring in a star who has had chemistry issues in the past? Despite the fact that the only coach Cousins ever liked is the coach of the Nuggets now I still believe the answer is no. Denver is going through a rebuild  and to try to speed it up is always risky. It would be best for them to wait for their young players to develop and see where they are at in three years.

2 – Houston Rockets

The Rockets have been led by James Harden and Dwight Howard for the last few years, but last year Dwight left in free agency leaving a hole at center for Houston. So far they have allowed young big man Clint Capela to fill that gap but he is limited offensively. Capela is averaging 12.1 points per game while Cousins is averaging 28.7 a game. If Harden and Cousins were to continue putting up the same numbers then together they would be averaging a whopping 56 points a game. Now this trade would be difficult to pull off without trading Harden, the Rockets would basically have to gut their team and still send over some draft picks but that’s okay. Houston should try to pull off this trade and then build around the Cousins Harden duo in future seasons.

1 – Washington Wizards.

The Wizards have struggled for a long time now. Bradley Beal is usually injured which leaves John Wall by himself on a relatively thin team. One of the biggest reasons a Cousins and Wall duo would work is because they played together in Kentucky during college. I think this trade would also be the easiest to pull off because if the Wizards give up Beal and maybe a few picks then the Kings should be happy to trade Cousins.

I think of these three teams the Wizards are the best fit for Cousins and I believe by the trade deadline of this season DeMarcus Cousins will be a Washington Wizard.
